Small Business Gift Guide: Cosy Journaling Edition

Small Business Gift Guide: Cosy Journaling Edition

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…to shop small and get cosy! We thought we’d pull together a few items from indie businesses that are perfect for gifting - whether you’re shopping for friends and family, or putting your own wish list together.

Please note: Everything on this list is in stock (or restocking soon) and shipping before Christmas at the time of writing, but it’s best to double check shipping times before you place an order. You can see Nikki’s Supply Store’s last order dates and some suggestions for what to do if your gifts don’t arrive in time here.

Let’s dive in…

Fancy starting a bullet journal but not sure what you need to begin? Want to give the gift of organisation to a loved one? Our hand-picked Bullet Journal Starter Kits are just the ticket, and contain everything needed to start bullet journaling. Kits start at just £32 with a Bruynzeel journal, but we also offer a kit with a Leuchtturm journal (£44) or a luxury Archer & Olive journal (£67.50).

I don’t know about you, but I love a cosy candle while I’m journaling. I’m currently burning the Kaya Butter Toast soy candle (£16) from & Chai. It features buttery notes of kaya butter, toffee, vanilla and pillowy milk bread, evoking founders Michelle and Louise’s favourite childhood snack from Singapore. Dreamy!

If the delicious scent of that candle has got you feeling a little snacky, how about a box of you-wouldn’t-know-they’re-vegan brownies from Cake or Death (from £18)? As well as being fudgy and delicious, they travel and freeze brilliantly, and the pink leopard pink packaging is cute as hell!

What could be better with a brownie than a mug of tea? I only have two caffeinated drinks a day, so I’m currently enjoying House of Lilah’s Loving Kindness loose leaf tea (£8) in the afternoon and evening. It’s a delicate and heartening blend of rooibos tea featuring mood-enhancing cocoa nibs and notes of gourmand orange and vanilla. So good!

I spent far too long browsing stunning handmade ceramic mugs for this gift guide, but this Blue Mist Cat Mug (£32) from Natko Ceramics has truly stolen my heart! Set your alarms as Nat will be re-stocking her online shop on 3rd and 12th December at 8pm, and her gorgeous mugs sell out FAST.

If you loved our A5 Ombre Rainbow Dot Grid Pad, you may also like…Nikki’s Pastel Rainbow Custard Cream Cushion (£41.50), from her other online shop, which specialises in biscuitty goodness. They’re 100% cotton, printed and handmade in the UK and definitely what a unicorn’s favourite biscuit would look like.

My favourite Christmas gifts to receive are often those that give me a cosy activity or new skill to learn over the festive period, and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into Lorna Scobie’s 365 Days of Feel-Good Art (RRP £16.99) during my down-time this year. Through practical, daily exercises, Lorna shows you how to experiment, explore and let go of your artistic inhibitions, encouraging you to look at the world a little differently and be kind to your yourself as you create.

You could also put together a pencil case filled with supplies, so the lucky recipient can dive right in! Lorna recommends pencils, fineliners, brush markers, and watercolours.

We stock a variety of sketchbooks, from these adorable mini Royal Talens Square Sketchbooks (£6.50), through to Sakura’s Blackout Sketchbooks (from £7.25) and the luxurious 160gsm Archer & Olive North Star Sketchbook (£29). The perfect gift to give alongside some sketching supplies, brush markers or watercolours.

These Mermaid or Merman Hot Water Bottles (£61.50) from Donna Wilson are just the ticket for keeping cosy while you create, or soothing a sore hand after a particularly rigorous sketching session! They’re 100% lambswool and knitted in Scotland.

Okay okay, so these Scissors Socks by Cepheid Studio are *technically* dressmaking shears, but I won’t tell if you won’t, and they’re still a great gift for a stationery lover! Cepheid Studio are based in Paris and recommended you order via Etsy if you’re based in the UK, as Etsy automatically collects VAT on your purchase. You can currently get two pairs of crafty socks for €15 via their Etsy shop here!

Stationery Stocking Fillers Under £5

Looking for stocking fillers, cracker gifts or Secret Santa gifts under £5 for a stationery lover? We've got you covered!

Wooden Kitty Ruler (£3.50)

One Day at a Time Tracker Pad (£4.50)

Old School Vibes Washi (£3) plus loads of other washi tape designs here!

Cute Rainbow Blob Page Markers (£2.85)

Cake Shop Bear Stickers (£2) plus loads more Korean sticker designs here!

I hope that’s given you a little inspiration for your holiday shipping and/or wish list! If you give or receive any Nikki's Supply Store goodies for Christmas, we’d love to see!
